Ethos' Community Hero of the Day named as Vicky Hoover.

As Official Match Ball and Website Sponsors, at every Cambridge United match day, we reward an individual for their contribution to sport in the Cambridgeshire community as the Hero of the Day.

The first Hero of the Day of 2018 was presented to Vicky Hoover AKA Mrs Cambridge United WFC. Vicky received the award due to her extraordinary dedication to Cambridge United WFC, which has seen her progress from player right through to her current position as Vice-Chairwoman.

Vicky first arrived to play in the reserves in 2005/6 season and went on to help the club to the treble the following year. She continued to play at the team, winning the Player of the Season award on more than one occasion.

She then went on to help Cambridge United Women’s team off the pitch and was awarded with the Club Achievement Award at the end of last season in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the club.

Cambridge United’s game against Mansfield Town on Saturday was their first match back at the Abbey Stadium for 2018.

It was certainly a case of new year, new arrivals with two new loan players, Adam Phillips and Billy Waters in the starting eleven, plus Harry Darling featured for his Football League debut alongside Greg Taylor.

The team performed well, dominating the second half. However, a goal from Danny Rose was deemed offside leaving the result a goalless draw when it came to the final whistle.
